Fa La La La …La La La La!! “It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!” It really is, isn’t it. There is holiday cheer in the air, everything seems brighter, people seem happier. There is hustle and bustle in the city, shoppers trying to find that perfect gift for that special someone. There is Christmas music playing on the radio, and in the stores, “You Better Watch Out, You Better Not Cry,… and “Rocking Around the Christmas Tree,” or “I saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause,” … “Silent Night.” There is the Jingle Bell Run and the Festival of Lights and Parade downtown. Santa and his Reindeer are in full force. People gather for big feasts with their loved ones, there’s ham and eggnog, sitting around the fire place and unwrapping presents. There are smiles and laughter, and joy fills the air. While all these things are wonderful, the Most wonderful celebration of the Season, is Jesus Christ’s Birth. What a blessing that Jesus was born and died for us all that we may have everlasting life through him. For above all and any gift we could ever receive, Jesus is the greatest one we could ever hope to have.
So while you are sitting around the fire, sipping on that eggnog, don’t get your tinsel in a tangle over what you don’t have, or what you didn‘t get under the tree, but be thankful and grateful for everything you do have. Enjoy your family, embrace them and cherish your time with them. Think about the “Christmas Shoes” story. All the little boy wanted to do was buy his Mom some shoes for Christmas. She was very sick and he knew there was not much time. He had heard her say that she loved to dance. So he wanted to buy her some new shoes, so she could look beautiful when she met Jesus.
You see the best gifts cannot be wrapped in a box, or tied in a bow, or even placed underneath a tree, but the truly best gifts come from the heart, are felt with the heart, and can be treasured forever.
So INDULGE in everything Christmas this year, carry on your traditions, steal a kiss underneath the mistletoe, build a snowman, watch the snowflakes fall, decorate the tree, laugh with your children, FEEL the magic, and spread the love that lies within you.
